Ari Jaaksi, responsible for Open Source Software Operations (OSSO) at Nokia, mentioned the 'Load-Plugin applet with Swapon/off' during his 2006 LinuxWorld Conference in Boston (local copy) on slide 14.

Maemo 2.0/ITOS2006

• Maemo 2.0 version of the command-line utility to 'knock' the doormand (Patch)

• Maemo 2.0 version of the command-line download utility 'wget'

• Maemo 2.0 version of the command-line arbitrary precision calculator 'bc'

• A modified version of John Costigan's Maemo Mapper with a second set of URI/Cache, e.g. to alternate between street maps and satellite images. The modified version also introduces the possibility to operate with closed cover. You can disable the default behaviour to disconnect the bluetooth GPS connection when the cover is closed, if you unset 'Tools' -> 'Control Panel' -> Connectivity' -> 'Disconnect when cover on device' (Gconf-Key /system/osso/connectivity/IAP/disconnect_on_cover).

  - Patches for version 1.0.1 (tested by some users): 1 2 3 4, deb, and the source.

  - Patches for the latest version 1.1 (not yet tested except by myself): 1 2 3 4, deb, and the source.
  The ESC-hardware-key now toggles the URI/Cache settings. (In the original version it toggles show/hide tracks.)

• Maemo 2.0 full-featured version of 'find' and 'xargs' to replace the feature-reduced busybox find and xargs (e.g. supports case-insensitive find, '-iname')

• Maemo 2.0 version of Jakub Pavelek's Load-Plugin, again I added swapon/off (Patch 1 2, Source).

  John Costigan modified Jakub Pavelek's applet to include a more generic "run and memorize a command" feature, which can also be used for swapon/off. You can find John's N770 Software here.
